ELECTION NIGHT PARTY!!

Español

Dear Voters,

So many friends, neighbors and colleagues have already signed on to support this campaign! I am profoundly grateful and pledge to earn that support every step of the way -- by the way I conduct myself in this campaign, by how hard I work for our schools and our children and by the way I conduct myself as a school board member. Let me start by telling you why I am running.

I have always cared about public education. I attended public school from kindergarten through high school. I was the first person in my family to get a college degree, and the first to become an attorney. I benefitted from a system that offered what all children deserve: a learning environment that provides a solid educational experience and a diversity of other programs that enable their future success. Today I’m a parent of twins who are Culver City school students. I, like most parents, want my children to have the same excellent public school experience I had. I want to ensure the district’s continued growth and well-being.

Put simply, I believe in the vision and the mission of public schools. But these are extremely difficult times for public schools and ours are no exception. Because of my unique combination of skills and experience, I think I can help. I have the experience to take on the tough challenges our school district is facing in this economic climate and have a track record as a problem solver and a consensus builder.

I am a professional: I am a manager and a lawyer; I work with budgets, deadlines, clients, staff and government statutes and rules on a daily basis. I know how to analyze a problem, work with data and find solutions.

I am a dedicated volunteer, with experience in grass-roots political organizations and on the boards of national non-profits. I know firsthand how powerful hard work and community spirit can be.

I am a homeowner and a head-of-household. I have the same economic concerns and financial worries as most in our community. I understand the value of a dollar and what quality schools mean to our home values.

And I’m a mom: a soccer mom, a Little League mom, a room parent, a school site council member and one of the people you will find speaking at School Board meetings about budget issues at 11 o’clock at night or calling bingo numbers at a school fundraiser just to help out. No one cares more passionately about our schools and our children than I do.

I would be proud to represent you. Thank you for your support.
